  1. You don’t offer free original content. People use this to understand you and get to know you as an expert they can trust,
  2. You don’t use a signature file on your e-mails. It’s a selling opportunity that’s often missed.
  3. You don’t have your own domain name. Even in this day and age using a domain that isn’t yours (such as tripod) is just bad and makes you look less serious about your business.
  4. You don’t test and improve your ad copy. Testing is the key to finding out what works.
  5. You don’t give people any urgency to buy now. If you don’t ask, you won’t get the sale.
  6. You don’t attract the target audience that would buy your product or service. Your target market, no matter what you think isn’t everybody.
  7. You don’t make your web site look professional. If it looks thrown together and shoddy, what kind of image does your potential customers get?
  8. You don’t give people as many ordering options as possible. Give options to attract more customers. For service businesses, offer payment plans.
  9. You don’t let people know anything about your business. It’s not just about the products you sell, but about you and your business.
  10. You don’t make people feel safe and secure when they order. Trust is the name of the game.
