Despite the obvious timing with Thanksgiving near, this piece by HubSpot is a great declaration of how to treat your customers, as well as why.

With the increasing transparency between companies and their customers, mostly thanks to the technological leaps and bounds experienced in communications and social media, it is important for small business owners to realize that you can no longer treat customers as cattle. They are not “numbers,” but rather they are people - unique, temperamental bundles of revenue joy.

That being said, this article gives five true, but humourous, reasons why a small business owner should treat his or her customers as family (i.e. talk to them and listen to what they have to say. NOT tell Uncle Fred bad things about them in order to increase your rank on his will, or other such things)
