Opelika-Auburn News:

While Auburn and Alabama are battling it out on the college football field, this young entrepreneur from Opelika, Alabama is growing his new business, Tiger Home Inventory Service.

Marc Dolan, currently a student at Opelika High School, started Tiger Home Inventory Service for home owners and business owners in the Auburn, Opelika and Columbus, GA areas. It allows these owners to inventory all their valuable property into a safe, digital format for future use in case there is a natural disaster, fire or burglary.

A home inventory is a record of all valuable property within the home or small business. It takes into account furniture, tools, toys, sports equipment, jewelry and clothing. It allows the home or small business owner the protection of having an up-to-date listing of all assets/property.

Dolan says the first thing that any emergency service or an insurance representative will ask for is a complete description of the items either lost or stolen.

Items other than large assets, such as motor vehicles, are often difficult to describe without a picture and/or written description by a neutral third party. Dolan’s business provides pictures as well as an accurate description of the valued items. Often, the items can be appraised based only on Dolan’s business’ documentation.

The digital preservation process is very secure and the information is stored off-site. Clients are given a discrete code number for future contac so as to ensure client privacy. The inventory process, with the owner present, usually only takes a few hours.

Mr. Dolan is a great example of a local, young entrepreneur taking the initiative and starting a business which services a distinct need in the marketplace.
